Oceania-Specific Challenges
Oceania consists of island countries scattered across thousands of miles of open ocean. While Australia and New Zealand are massive and recognizable, distinguishing between smaller nations in Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia is a true test of geographic expertise.

Tips for Scoring 100% on the Oceania Map Quiz
- Start with the large landmasses: Australia is the largest, occupying most of the map. New Zealand consists of two main islands southeast of Australia. Papua New Guinea covers the eastern half of the island of New Guinea, directly north of Australia.
- Learn by region: Oceania is divided into three cultural regions: Melanesia (west, including Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea), Micronesia (northwest, including Palau, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Kiribati), and Polynesia (east, including Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu).
- Practice zoom controls: Make use of the zoom and pan controls on the map. Zoom in to click on the small island groups in the Western Pacific, or let the auto-zoom focus your view.
