South America-Specific Challenges
Though small, South America trips players up on the northern coast. Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana are often confused. Remember their order from west to east: Guyana first (G), Suriname second (S), French Guiana third (F).

Tips for Scoring 100% on the South America Map Quiz
- Start with the large nations: Brazil covers half the continent. Argentina runs down the southern portion. Chile is the long, thin ribbon on the west coast. Colombia sits in the northwest corner, bordering Central America.
- Differentiate landlocked pairs: Bolivia and Paraguay are the only two landlocked countries in South America. Bolivia is the larger, mountainous one to the north. Paraguay is smaller, further south.
- Differentiate Uruguay and Paraguay: Uruguay sits on the southeastern coast, bordering Argentina and Brazil. Paraguay sits landlocked in the interior.
